Vienna: always right in the middle

That’s typical Vienna: A building that began as sumptuous stables for the imperial court before being forgotten and falling into a state of neglect is now one of the most vibrant cultural centres in the city. Like a precious necklace dripping with diamonds, the Museumsquartier glitters with its galleries, avant-garde stages, digital labs and shops. The Leopold Museum for example with its outstanding collection of art from the period around 1900 (Schiele, Klimt) is giving art lovers an opportunity to rediscover the painter Theodor von Hörmann at an exhibition in summer 2016 entitled “ From Paris to the Secession”. (www.leopoldmuseum.org). But there are also a dozen other places for art, architecture and design etc. And between them the MQ’s vast inner courtyard with its bars and restaurants, and the wonderful “Enzis”, patented outdoor furniture for sitting, lounging, chilling or lying down - on your own, with a friend or in a crowd: for a relaxing end to an exciting day.
